Superstatistics Based on the Microcanonical Ensemble

چکیده
with Ei the energy of the microstate labeled by i, β = 1/kBT the inverse temperature (T ), kB Boltzmann’s constant, and ZBG the partition function. The exponential term FBG = exp (−βE) is, of course, called the BG factor. Recently Beck and Cohen [3, 4] have advanced a generalization (called “superstatistics”) of this BG factor, assuming that the inverse temperature β is a stochastic variable. They effect a multiplicative convolution to obtain a generalized statistical factor FGS in the fashion [4]

Basis of a non Riemannian Geometry within the Equilibrium Thermodynamics
Microcanonical description is characterized by the presence of an internal symmetry closely related with the dynamical origin of this ensemble: the reparametrization invariance. Such symmetry possibilities the development of a non Riemannian geometric formulation within the microcanonical description of an isolated system, which leads to an unexpected generalization of the Gibbs canonical ensem...
متن کاملIASSNS 96/36 Microcanonical Ensemble and Algebra of Conserved Generators for Generalized Quantum Dynamics
It has recently been shown, by application of statistical mechanical methods to determine the canonical ensemble governing the equilibrium distribution of operator initial values, that complex quantum field theory can emerge as a statistical approximation to an underlying generalized quantum dynamics. This result was obtained by an argument based on a Ward identity analogous to the equipartitio...
متن کاملDerivation and improvements of the quantum canonical ensemble from a regularized microcanonical ensemble
We develop a regularization of the quantum microcanonical ensemble, called a Gaussian ensemble, which can be used for derivation of the canonical ensemble from microcanonical principles. The derivation differs from the usual methods by giving an explanation for the, at the first sight unreasonable, effectiveness of the canonical ensemble when applied to certain small, isolated, systems. This me...

Microcanonical equilibrium macrostates are characterized as the solutions of a constrained minimization problem, while canonical equilibrium macrostates are characterized as the solutions of a related, unconstrained minimization problem. In the paper [19] by Ellis, Haven, and Turkington, the problem of ensemble equivalence was completely solved at two separate, but related levels: the level of ...
متن کاملMicrocanonical Description of (Micro) Black Holes
The microcanonical ensemble is the proper ensemble to describe black holes which are not in thermodynamic equilibrium, such as radiating black holes. This choice of ensemble eliminates the problems, e.g., negative specific heat (not allowed in the canonical ensemble) and loss of unitarity, encountered when the canonical ensemble is used. In this review we present an overview of the weaknesses o...
